Introduction
When your monitor is showing a green continuous LED. That means that the monitor is connected to the local network but does not have a connection with our Smappee server. In most cases this does indicate a problem with the internet connection. This is most often caused by firewall configuration or router issues.
The only case where this is not necessarily an issue is when you are using a Smappee Genius. More on this below.
What to check
If a Smappee monitor is emitting a green continuous LED, this usually indicates a problem with the firewall configuration or router/switch as mentioned before.
Please check with the user/IT department if any issues can be found. Please find below the firewall rules recommended by Smappee:
Outgoing ports required:
- Port 443 (Used by Smappee Server)
- Port 80 (Used by Smappee Server)
- Port 123 (Used by Time Server)
No Ingoing ports required.
Server adresses Smappee:
- farm1pub.smappee.net
- farm1propub.smappee.net
- kafka1.smappee.net
- kafka2.smappee.net
- kafka3.smappee.net
- mqtt.smappee.net
Time Server access required:
- pool.ntp.org
Exception
If a Smappee Genius is connected with an RJ45 ethernet cable and still needs to be installed, the color emitted will be green continuous. This is normal. This is because the Smappee Genius can automatically detect that the RJ45 ethernet cable is connected and provides a valid internet connection.
During the installation steps for the Genius, please choose green continuous on the color selection screen for immediate activation on our server.
