Troubleshooting MID meter not found

The MID meter of your charging station shows as not found in the module list. Here is what that means and how to fix it per charger.

What happens without the MID meter?

The MID meter measures the energy of each charging session for billing. Without it, billed and public charging sessions are blocked. Charging without authentication and charging with a whitelisted card keep working, so the problem is sometimes only noticed at invoicing.

On an EV Base V2, a missing MID meter on connector 2 also makes the charging station switch between online and offline, and connector 2 cannot charge.

Safety: The checks below are done inside the charging station. Only a qualified installer should carry them out. Switch off the power before you open the charger.

Which charger do you have?

Charger (serial number starts with) Go to
EV Wall (6230 / 6231)
EV One (6531)
EV Wall Business V3 (6120 / 6121)
EV One Business V3 (6522)
EV Wall and EV One
EV Base (6030 / 6031)
EV Base V3 (6020 / 6021)
EV Base V2 (6010 / 6011)
EV Base
EV Wall V4 (6240 / 6241)
EV One V4 (6541)
EV Dual (6630 / 6631)
EV Wall V4, EV One V4 and EV Dual
EV Wall Home, EV One Home, EV Wall Lite These chargers have no MID meter

Always start with a restart: switch the charging station off with its circuit breaker, wait a few seconds and switch it on again. Then check the module list again.

EV Wall and EV One (including Business V3)

  1. Check the cables. The RJ10 cable of the MID meter must be fully clicked into a B port of the relay board and undamaged. On the MID meter, check that the screw terminals B- and A+ are tight.
  2. Test the port. Move the RJ10 cable of the MID meter to the free B port of the Connect. Is the MID meter found there? Then the port on the relay board is faulty: contact support. Still not found? Continue with step 3.
  3. Check the address of the MID meter: it must be 001. See How to check the address of the MID meter.

EV Base

The EV Base has one MID meter per connector.

MID meter of connector 1 not found

  1. Check the RJ10 cable between the MID meter and the Connect: fully clicked in and undamaged. Reconnect it.
  2. Check the screw terminals B- and A+ on the MID meter.
  3. Check the address: it must be 001.

MID meter of connector 2 not found

  1. Check that the RCD of connector 2 is switched on. A tripped RCD alone makes MID meter 2 disappear.
  2. Check the RJ10 cable of the MID meter: on the EV Base and EV Base V3 it goes to the relay board of connector 2, on the EV Base V2 to the AC charge controller of connector 2. Fully clicked in, undamaged, reconnect it.
  3. Check the screw terminals B- and A+ on the MID meter.
  4. Check the address: it must be 002.
Note: Both MID meters missing while both charge controllers are found? Restart the charging station first. On an EV Base there is no free port to test the cable on another port. On an EV Base, a wrong or double address (for example both meters on 001) makes a MID meter disappear.

How to check the address of the MID meter

Charger Address of the MID meter
EV Wall, EV One, EV Wall Business V3, EV One Business V3, EV Wall V4, EV One V4 001
EV Base, EV Base V3, EV Base V2 Connector 1: 001
Connector 2: 002
EV Dual Both connectors: 001

To check or change the address:

  1. On the MID meter, hold E until PASS appears.
  2. Enter the password with the arrow keys (default 1000).
  3. Hold E until SET ADDR appears.
  4. Hold E until the first digit flashes.
  5. Set the address: push E to go to the next digit, use the arrow keys to change it.
  6. Hold E to confirm, then press ESC to go back to the main screen.

EV Wall V4, EV One V4 and EV Dual

  1. Restart the charging station (power off and on). On an EV Dual, a missing MID meter is also shown on the display as error E41.
  2. Check the address of the MID meter: 001. On an EV Dual, the MID meters of both connectors must be on 001 (different from the EV Base, where connector 2 uses 002). See How to check the address of the MID meter.
