Help my Smappee Genius is causing network issues

The Smappee Genius utilizes mDNS (Multicast DNS) to simplify device discovery within a local network. This allows users to access its Expert Portal via a hostname such as Smappee501xxxxxxx.local/smappee.html instead of using a direct IP address (e.g., 192.168.x.x/smappee.html).

However, we have observed that in certain network environments—particularly those with older printers—this feature can cause unexpected behavior. In some cases, devices mistakenly identify the Genius as the DHCP server, leading to network conflicts.

Fortunately, this mDNS feature can be disabled. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you turn off this setting.

  1. Navigate to the expert portal of the Smappee Genius (see How to access the monitor’s expert portal?)
  2. Navigate to "Advanced"
