What do the colours of my Smappee LED tell me ?

Your Smappee monitor can emit different colours. These colours can slightly be different for our different Smappee monitors.

Please see the colour indication below for the following monitors.

For a Smappee Genius (5000/5010/5020) (Infinity)

LED colour Description
Green pulsing The monitor is working correctly. No issues found.
Green continuous

Network connectivity successful, but Smappee is not yet activated on our servers.

· Ethernet: Connected to the local network.

· Wi-Fi: Connected to the Wi-Fi and the local network (i.e. the Wi-Fi password is correct)

For troubleshooting, see here.

Blue flashing

· Wi-Fi: The monitor is in install mode. It can be connected to your local Wi-Fi. (You should see a hotspot "smappee5010xxxxxx" in the Wi-Fi list scanned by your phone)

· Ethernet: The ethernet cable is not detected.

For troubleshooting, see here.

Blue continuous The monitor is starting up. For troubleshooting see here.
Red continuous/flashing Internet connectivity issues. For troubleshooting see here.

For a Smappee (Wifi) Connect (5130 / 5100 / 5110) (Infinity)

LED colour Description
Green pulsing

The monitor is working correctly. No issues found.

Warning! During the installation process this can also mean it still needs to be activated! (The Smappee Connect is different than the other Smappee products in this sense)

Green continuous

The Smappee is able to connect to the network during installation but is not able to reach our servers.

Check firewall, if the issue persists, contact support.

· Ethernet: Connected to the local network.

· Wi-Fi: Connected to the Wi-Fi and the local network (i.e. the Wi-Fi password is correct)

Blue flashing

· Wi-Fi: The monitor is in install mode. It can be connected to your local Wi-Fi. (You should see a hotspot "smappee5130xxxxxx" (or "smappee5110xxxxxx") in the Wi-Fi list scanned by your phone)

· Ethernet: Ethernet Mode needs to be activated via the App.

For troubleshooting, see here.

Blue continuous The monitor is starting up. For troubleshooting see here.
Red continuous/flashing Internet connectivity issues. For troubleshooting see here.
Purple continuous/flashing Should not happen in the field, this is related to manufacturing mode.

Note (Ethernet): On Connects with the latest firmware, a Connect that is correctly connected via Ethernet should go directly to green breathing. If the Connect is connected via Ethernet but shows blue flashing or red, this means there is no internet running over the Ethernet connection (e.g. the cable is not properly connected, there is no connection on the port, or Ethernet mode has not been activated).

For a Smappee 4G Connect (5140/5141/5144) (Infinity)

The LED on the 4G Connect indicates 4G signal strength, not a general internet or server status. This is different from the standard Connect, where a red LED means no internet connection. On the 4G Connect, red indicates poor or no 4G signal at the installation location.

LED colour Description
Cyan blinking

The 4G Connect is searching for a network.

Wait for the network to be found. If this persists, check SIM card status and 4G coverage at the location.

Green continuous

The 4G Connect is establishing an internet connection. This should transition to green breathing within 2 minutes.

If still solid green after 2 minutes, contact support.

Green breathing 4G reception is good at this location. The device is working correctly.
Yellow breathing

4G reception is moderate. Some functions may respond more slowly.

Consider relocating the 4G Connect to a position with better reception.

Red breathing

4G reception is poor at this location.

Relocate the 4G Connect to a position with better reception, or switch to an alternative connection method (e.g. Ethernet via a standard Connect).

Red blinking

The 4G Connect has no internet connection. This occurs during startup when no 4G signal is detected.

Check 4G coverage at the location. If no coverage is available, switch to an alternative connection method.
