Charge at the cheapest moments of the day
An introduction to smart charging with Smappee.

Charging your vehicle at home can be quite taxing on your electrical installation. With Smappee smart charging, you can optimise your charging sessions by maximising self-consumption of your solar production, and by charging during the cheapest possible periods.

Requirements

Before you can use smart charging, a few conditions need to be met:

1. Grid measurement

Your charging station needs to be linked to an installation that measures your connection to the grid, using either:

i Only grid measurement is required. Smart charging decides how much to charge based on what's actually exported to the grid, not on a separate solar production measurement. Measuring your panels' production directly is optional (useful for insights, but not needed for smart charging to work).

On the Home version of our charging stations, grid measurement is built in. The EV Base or Business version require a separate Infinity installation.

2. Supported product line

Smart charging is available on:

  • EV Wall
  • EV One
  • EV Base
  • EV Dual

Smart charging is not available on the Lite versions of our charging stations.

Setting up smart charging

You can set up smart charging in both the Smappee app and the Smappee Dashboard:
