How to install and configure a Delta installation with a Smappee Infinity?

The following guide is created to provide some additional information on how to install a delta installation.

Please be aware that this description is only applicable for Smappee Infinity.

L1 means voltage measured between L1 and L3/N (Brown and grey/blue)
L2 means voltage measured between L2 and L3/N (Black and grey/blue)
L3 means voltage measured between L1 and L2 (Brown and Black)

Some rules:

- Grid always must to be measured with L1 and L2.
- 3-phase inverters always must be measured with L1 and L2
- Any 3-phase appliances or subcircuits always must be measured with L1 and L2
- Never ever use "Reverse", check instead if the Clamp is connected in the right direction.
- Only use L3 when a single-phase circuit is connected between L1 and L2
- Always connect the Clamp to the phase wire meaning:

  • if the subcircuit is between L1 (brown) and L3 (grey, blue) then set the phase in the App to L1 and connect the clamp to L1.  (voltage measured between the wire and brown powerbox cable is 0)

  • if the subcircuit is between L2 (black) and L3 (grey, blue) then set the phase in the App to L2 and connect the clamp to L2  (voltage measured between the wire and black powerbox cable is 0)

  • if the subcircuit is between L1 (brown) and L2 (black) then set the phase in the App to L3 and connect the clamp to L1 (voltage measured between the wire and brown powerbox cable is 0)

Installation instructions:

Powerbox

Brown cable > phase 1

Black cable > phase 2

Grey cable > phase 3

Blue cable (N) > phase 3

Possible problems that can occur:

  • Bridge brown cable and blue cable: no power on the device.
  • Bridge black cable and blue cable: wrong measurements.

CT Clamps or Rogowski coils

Main fuse:

Connect a CT clamp to the brown cable (phase 1) and a CT clamp to the black cable (phase 2).

Appliances/solar production:

Appliance bridged between phase 1 and 2

Connect a CT clamp to phase 3.

Appliance bridged between phase 1 and 3

Connect a CT clamp to phase 1.

Appliance bridged between phase 2 and 3

Connect a CT clamp to phase 2.
