How to correctly set up my tariffs in the app.

Everything is getting more and more expensive and energy is no exception unfortunately.

Smappee can help you reduce the impact of the costs of energy consumption as much as possible especially when charging your vehicle at home*. To that end you it is very important that your tariffs are correctly setup in the app.

* Please note that we can only offer this service on Smappee charging stations.

You can setup your tariffs in the app. This only takes a few minutes so we would definitely recommend doing this. We assure you the benefits far outnumber the effort.

Tariffs are used for:

  • Smart charging (schedules)
  • Cost calculation of consumption values like household consumption, solar production savings and always on consumption.
  • Estimated costs of appliances

To setup your tariffs, follow this procedure:

Fixed rates:

  1. Login to the app and go to the menu settings. in the settings menu, click tariffs.
  2. On the next page click Set up your tariffs.
  3. Then choose whether you want to set up static tariffs (fixed rates) or dynamic tariffs. Choose static tariffs.
  4. Now set up tariffs and rates. The tariff chart is a visual display to help you check if the configuration is correctly setup.
  5. Click Next and finish configuration.

Dynamic rates:

  1. Login to the app and go to the menu settings. in the settings menu, click tariffs.
  2. On the next page click Set up your tariffs.
  3. Then choose whether you want to set up static tariffs (fixed rates) or dynamic tariffs. Choose Dynamic tariffs.
  4. To set up dynamic tariffs, first you will have to choose the correct market. These are sorted by country. Select the correct one and press next.
  5. After selecting the correct market you will have the possibility to add additional costs and multipliers that possibly apply to you. It is also important this is correctly configured for the cost calculation.
    • Fixed rate = a fixed cost per kwh added to the dynamic tariff
    • Multiplier = a additional multiplier to also calculate in the additional profit or any other cost that the energy supplier adds in.
    • Tax multiplier = a tax multiplier that can be added, if your tax is 21% then you need to set 1.21 as multiplier.
  6. Click Next and then click Save.

Now that tariffs are correctly setup, cost calculation will be calculated based on the tariffs configured.

The different costs are calculated with these formulas:

  • Household consumption cost = Consumption x Import_Tariff
  • Always on cost = Always On x Import_Tariff
  • Solar production savings = ((Production - Export) x Import_tariff ) + (Export x Export_tariff)
  • Costs calculated for appliances are based on the events received for that appliance. It is important to note these are not accurate calculations and rather estimations based on configured tariffs.
