How does my Smappee P1 module work?

The Smappee P1* module visualizes the electrical and/or Gas, Water consumption measured by the smart meter.

With the P1 you can visualize the import and, if applicable, export of your electrical system to the grid.

Please note that the P1 module cannot visualize solar production as the smart meter does not log this data.

(*) The P1 module is a new revision of the P1S1 module, it has the same functionality with the exception that the S1 port has been removed as this was not used, if you have the older version of the module you also do not need to connect the S1 port.

Digital Meter Compatibility

Please find below what smart meter version the P1 module is compatible with:

Smart meter DSMR version

Compatible?

2X

No

3X

No

4X

Yes (1)

5X

Yes

 (1) The P1 module is compatible but will require a separate power cable to work correctly. For more information see the power requirements section. Next to the P1 cable you also get a USB-A to RJ10 cable to power the P1 module with an adapter.

If you are not sure what DSMR version your smart meter is using, please contact your smart meter supplier.

See Finding the P1 port on your Meter to find where you can connect the P1.

Please beware the adapter is not included in the box, only the USB-A to RJ10 cable is.

Power Requirements

The P1 module is supplied power by the P1 port of the smart meter. If your smart meter version is DSMR4X you will require a separate power cable to supply power to the P1 module via the RJ10 port of the module.

Always on

To calculate your always on values we take the lowest power between 0 and 2 at night.

P1 with EV Line products

The P1 port can be used for mains measurement to enable Overload Protection and the Planner function for controlling our EV Line(²) products.
To configure this, first install the P1 module. Then, add the EV Line products to the same location.
Make sure to configure the Overload setting (and optionally the capacity tariff) in the app according to the maximum value of your main circuit breaker.

(2) The P1 module cannot be combined with EV Wall Home, nor can it be used in Multigateway.

P1 with solar panels

In an installation with solar panels, the P1 module can only (³) measure import and export. This is the only thing next to the Gas/Water values that the digital meter records. The digital meter does not record any data of the solar production.
 (3) The P1 module cannot (yet) be combined with Infinity

Gas/Water readings

Some digital meters can also measure your gas values, these will also be shown in the Smappee app and dashboard (if you already use the digital gas meter).

Data access

The data of the P1S1 can be viewed in both our mobile App and the Dashboard.

P1S1 does not support a local MQTT broker, you can however acces the data through the RestAPI.

Finding the P1 port on your Digital Meter

As mentioned you need to have a P1 port on your meter.

Below we show where you can find the P1 port on the most used meters.

If you do not know what the DSMR version is of you meter is or you are unsure if your digital meter is supported. Please feel free to contact us with a picture of your digital meter, we will help identifying if your meter is compatible with our module.

DSMR5 (No additional power supply needed)

For the DSMR5 meters you only need to find and connect the P1 port.

Landis+Gyr E360 series (1P/3P) (DSMR5)

For the Landis+Gyr E360 series you will find the P1 port on right side more towards the bottom as indicated in the picture below.

Sagemcom (Siconia) S211 / T211 / XS212 / XT211 (DSMR5)

For Sagemcom meters, there are different types—some larger, some smaller—but the logic remains the same. You need to remove the green panel in the lower left corner.
In some older versions of the meter, you will find both a P1 and an S1 port. You only need to connect to the P1 port; the S1 port is no longer used.

Iskra AM550 (DSMR5)

For the Iskra AM550 you will find the port on the top right.

DSMR4 (USB-A to RJ10 with power supply needed)

For DSMR4 meters, you need to locate and connect the P1 port. Additionally, you will need to install or obtain an external power supply in order to connect the USB-A to RJ10 cable to the A port of the P1 module

Landis+Gyr E350 series (DSMR4)

For the older Landis+Gyr E350 series you will find the P1 port behind a small grey panel you need to remove on the bottom right.

Kaifa MA105C (DSMR4)

For most Kaifa meters you will find the P1 port behind a grey panel on the middle left.
